Good Bye Christmas, Hello Spring!

Something strange happens to me every year between December and February.
Especially after Christmas time.
I yearn for change throughout our home.
I want to repaint everything, change out every picture frame, rearrange every little nik-nak.

I go a little crazy, maybe it's the Winter Blues that just hits me like a ton of bricks
and makes me go crazy.

Whatever it is, I've been hit, hard.

I have lists upon lists of everything I want to do before spring.

But my main focus right now is the family room.
The gathering place in our home.
The go to comfy spot for cuddles, tummy time and movie nights.

The walls are the same, drab painters beige color from when we moved in.
The poor Flokati fur rug, now looks like a dirty wet dogs fur coat.
gross, I know. If only you could see it.

The wires that hang behind (in plain sight) the TV
drive me absolutely up the wall every time I see their tangled mess of black strings.

I am in desperate need of cheerfulness during these dark months.
Every morning I go open every blind in the house, but when the skies are gray
and the inversion has set in, there isn't much natural light coming through.

-----------------------------------------

I'm the kind of person who is terrified of color.
Everything in our home is mainly neutral.
Whites, creams, tans and grays.

It can get a little depressing during the winter.
The home almost has a cold feeling to it.
And right now I long for warmth.

To start this fun family room makeover Josh and I went out and bought bright mustard yellow curtains.
^^sort of like those up there ^^

I first had simple and plain beige colored ones in the cart, but decided to just go bold
and I love them!

It already makes the home feel much more cheerful and happy!
Color really isn't that bad :)

And I'm dying to get some of these pillows!

Such happy little pillows :)

Next we are planning on painting the beige walls a happy and clean color grey.
I know, grey!?
But it will make the yellow curtains pop even more against the cool undertones.

I am also dying to revamp the media console as well with vintage wire baskets and vibrant greens.

Oh also! I'm DYING to get a Moroccan wedding throw!
Sooo gorgeous!

and just a little more beautiful pictures
because I'm a sucker for simple and pretty, clean and green things :)

Oh man, such pretty things and amazing inspiration!
So excited to get started! :)

Do you have any suggestions for beating the winter blues with happy bright decor? :)

Christmas 2013 aka Baby's First

This Christmas was the most humble Christmas Josh and I have had in the 6 years of dating/marriage.

And yet, it was the absolute most amazing one!

We woke up around 9 Christmas morning to our smiling little Copeland :)
It was the best! We kept telling him Merry Christmas and asking him if he remembers
Christmas in heaven and he would smile and giggle so big!
Almost like he knew exactly what today was all about :)

Once we got up and and stretched, we opened some presents.
Copeland loved ripping the paper and stuffing it in his mouth.
He also loved holding onto all his new stuff!

He got some clothes, lots of books and a few fun toys :)

Around noon, my mom, sister and niece came over for Belgian waffles with strawberries,
hash browns, bacon and the most yummy caramel syrup!

We opened a few more things and visited :)

It was perfect.

We then got ready and headed up to Josh's parents home for a yummy dinner and games.

This was by far the greatest Christmas ever.
I cannot wait to teach Copeland the meaning of Christmas in the years to come! And being Santa is probably going to be the greatest thing ever :)
I'm already looking forward to next year!!!

Can you tell we LOVE our tree. Haha :)

Happy Holidays and New Year!!!

Stocking Stuffers for Baby

Since Copeland will only be about 4 and a half months old this Christmas,
I can't really fill his stocking with yummy chocolate and candy ;)

And being a first time mom, I kind of was clueless and really
had to think about what to put in my babes stocking!
(do babies even need a stocking?)

So I  found a few things that I think he'll like right now and that doesn't involve candy.
Although I might have to sneak in an m&m candy cane for me to snack on :)

I died when I saw this at a little toy store the other day!
It is too cute!
ALSO I really want to get him one of these!
He is obsessed with putting anything and everything in his mouth,
but especially loves soft things like blankets and his mittens.
So THIS would be perfect for his little hands to hold onto and chew on :)

This is more for me to have in the diaper bag that I can fill with
yummy rice puff treats when the time comes.

3. Plum Organics Pureed Fruits Stage 1 & Puff Stars (Target)
I have heard amazing things about Plum Organics and when we tried them
the other day he practically lunged out of the bumbo for more!!

Gotta have some new binks for my babe (6-18 months)

I hope Cope loves this! It looks prettycute and for $5, it's worth a shot :)
Fill with water and baby can pat it during tummy time!
NOTE: I don't know why amazons price says $30!
I bought this 2 weeks ago on Amazon for $5. So it must be a typo?

I am seriously so excited for Christmas this year!
I know I won't regret saying that it will probably be the best one yet! :)

Happy Holidays!

Butternut Squash

Today we fed Copeland some solid food for the very first time!

Okay before you keep reading, it seems there is a lot of controversy on when to start solids. Our doctor has said to start anytime between 4 and 6 months, whenever Copeland seems ready.
And oh boy does he seem ready. In fact, he is probably more ready than I am to start this little journey.

My sister didn't start my niece until 6 months because she was completely disinterested in food until that age. So I think every child is different and therefor the reason for the 4 to 6 month timeline.

Now we sort of did this on a whim today and it kinda broke my heart.
My little man is growing up!

The reason we decided to do this at 4 months old is because he has already gotten his two bottom teeth in! it's insane!
He also is UHBsessed with the food Josh and I eat.
He just stares and cries when he smells the food we cook and eat.
So today after I made some tacos, and Copeland would not stop staring at the tomatoes and lettuce. Yes, i realize this could all be out of curioustity, but he doesnt get this involved with anything else also than the food we eat. So we decided to try out some butternut squash with him.

He LOVED it. It was the cutest!
He kept smacking his lips and licking them. To die for.
Please note that we did this after I nursed him so I know it was not because he was starving for a full belly :)
He truly enjoyed the yumminess.

After we gave him a few bites we stopped and he flipped!
Literally started bawling.
So we fed him a few more bites and he was just as happy as a clam. I then nursed him a little more until he fell asleep, which was only like a minute until he was soothed :)

While nursing him I did a little research on introducing solids and I've decided that we will
probably hold off on anymore solids for about another month.
Okay I'll probably give him a few things here and there for fun :)
But nursing will def. be his main source of nutrients for the next little bit.

 -------------------------------------------------------------------

Josh fed him while I captured a few precious moments between my two babes :)

This kid knew exactly what to do with this glass of water
don't worry, he didn't have too much, just a sip because
I was freaking out about him choking on the water
gah, I worry too much now!

These are the best experiences of my life.
Grow big, little one.

A Very Airy Christmas //

Ohh I just love Christmas time and all the prettyness everywhere!

This is the first year where I've actually gone out and bought decorations.
In past years, I've just used my moms hand-me-downs, but now with so much
inspiration on Pinterest, I've sort have come into my own and have really wanted to incorporate
light colors for a very airy Christmas feeling in our home with a few pops of red!

I can't wait to start on the tree, but ornaments are soo expensive!
I think I'll wait until after the holidays and hope everything goes on sale :)
