Summer Time. Finally!

I am so happy it's finally almost summertime!

Until Josh is officially graduated and out of school,
this is will be absolute favorite time because I actually get to see him now :)
No more studying from 4 pm- midnight!!!

He is officially done with his spring semester classes today
but he is still going to take 1 of his engineering classes this summer.
At least it's just one class though!

I can't wait to be out on the golf course with him and spend some days
by the pool with him and just do some fun summertime family things :)

My absolute favorite is going to his softball games during the week.
I've been going to his softball games for the past 7 years
(I can't believe we've known each other that long!).
I love being there and supporting my cute husband :)

Maybe it's the sunshine or the pretty flowers everywhere,
but I am just so happy right now!
I feel so lucky to have him and to have this baby growing inside me.

Pregnancy is so crazy and terrifying. There were so many things that have
happened that I never thought about, was never told, and just didn't expect,
but it's so incredible as well.

Last night Josh and I just sat on the couch watching our little one toss
and turn inside me. It has got to be one of the craziest things in the world.
It is so amazing and such a miracle!

As I get closer and closer to August, I have been feeling less and less afraid and
more excited and happy about bringing this little dude into the world.

Josh always talks to him and tells him he can't wait to play with him and hold him.
It's adorable.

He's also helped me a ton with becoming mentally prepared for labor.
There have many nights when I have little freak outs thinking about the pain
but Josh is always there to reassure me that I can do this. I was made to do this
and that we'll get through it together :)

Anyway, I can't wait to spend nights at home with my husband and our baby.
I get an overwhelming sense of happiness when I think about that.

I don't know how I got to this point in my life, but feel so blessed that I'm here.

.:Chalkboard Wall:.

One of my friends graduated with her degree in teaching last winter!
She is walking this month and she asked if I'd take some pictures for her invitation
with the chalkboard wall :)

She is the one that came up with the idea and I think they turned out super cute!!!

DIY: Floral Crown

I made a fabric floral crown for my soon to be taken maternity pictures :)
I love how it turned out so here is how I made it...

1: Start with a bunch of different fabrics.
This is what you'll make the fabric flowers out of so
choose a color scheme or just neutrals work well too :)

You'll also want beads, buttons, a headband and silk flowers if you'd like.

Step 2 takes the longest.
You will need to cut out and glue together your fabric flowers.
There are all kinds of fabric flowers that you can make and there are tons of
tutorials on Pinterest :)

Once the flowers have been made, you will start hot gluing them to the headband
using felt as the backing.

I like the look of a very full crown, so I added a ton of flowers and overlapped them.
I also added some silk flowers and leaves.

Continue doing this until your headband is covered as much as you like :)

I love how it looks, but I think I'm going to make one with some silk flowers too :)

I can't wait to take my maternity pictures!
I'm waiting for the orchards to bloom, so I'm thinking late May.
I can't wait to show you guys!

22 weeks!

Omg I haven't done this in forever!
I'm so bad at stuff like this.

But here is my 22 weeks post and no chalkboard drawing this time.
I wanted to try using photoshop instead :)

I can't even believe I'm 5 1/2 months already!

It literally feels like we JUST found out we were pregnant!
I feel like there is so much stuff that we need to get done and we
only have 3 months to do it :)

I've been able to feel this little one move every once in a while since about 16 weeks
but now I feel him about 15 times a day almost and Josh can feel & SEE him too!
My stomach will just be poppin', especially when we are listening to music.
It's so funny!

I am feeling so huge these days, I can't even imagine
what I'll feel like in just a couple more months!
It is so shocking to me what a woman's body goes through during pregnancy!
I never thought it would be like this, but I'm embracing every part of it :)

I've started working out again about 4 times a week
and it's made me feel sooo much better and has helped with my energy levels
and just overall well being!

My doctor told me something that totally hit me hard.
He said labor and delivery is not a sprint, it's a marathon
and the more you workout and the better shape you're in,
the easier your labor and delivery will usually be.
I took it to heart and completely agree.
I think working out up until delivery will help a ton,
with stamina and just getting through the pain :)

I have seriously had nightmares about going through labor.
I'm completely terrified!
&& then to make it worse, I made the mistake of watching
a labor/delivery video from like the 90's.
I watched it by myself one night and just started crying.
Can my body really handle this!?

I've also been thinking about taking a Lamaze class with Josh.
Has anyone taken one? Did you like it/not like it??
I'm just trying to be as prepared as possible, mentally and physically
because I'm pretty much the worlds biggest baby when it comes to pain.

Well, that's pretty much it for now!
I'm going to try and be better at these updates :)

Oh and I HAD to show you, because I'm obsessed with it.
I made this fabric floral crown today for my maternity pictures at the end of next month!
I'm soo excited and now I just need to find the perfect dress :)

DIY: Stamped Baby Blanket

So I'm dying over the super adorable printed/stamped baby blankets that are all over the place!
But spending $40+ on one swaddling blanket, seems a little pricey for me :)

So I decided why not just make some!?

I got all my supplies at Joann fabric and used coupons for a total of $28, which got me
2 blankets, 1 stamp, paint brushes, stamp pad and 2 paints!
So now I can make as many as I want :)

Here's how to make your own :)

Supplies:

1. Fabric ( however large you want your blanket to be. I used 1 yard)
I got both a gauze material and an organic cotton that is super soft!
2. Martha Stewart Craft Paint. This paint can be used on fabric!
3. Memento Ink Pad. This ink can also be used on fabric!
4. Foam brushes (if you choose to use the craft paint)
5. Stamps! I bought this is one at Joann, but they also have tons at Hobby Lobby
and they have super cute ones on Etsy!

Step 1.
If you are using the ink pad, press your stamp firmly into it,
making sure to cover the entire stamp.
If you're using the craft paint, take your foam brush and dab on the paint to the stamp
(not too much is needed).
Do not brush it on, because it will leave stroke marks!

Step 2.
If using the ink pad, you will press the stamp down firmly onto your fabric,
evenly distributing the pressure.
If using the craft paint, you don't want to press too firmly.
(Otherwise it will just look like a big blob of paint.)

This is what it should look like when using the ink pad.

You can do complete random placings of the stamp, like I did
or follow a pattern if you'd like.

Step 3.
Okay so this is the important part.
This is going to make the ink completely permanent.

You will need to heat treat each stamped area.
**If using the craft paint you will need to wait at least 24 hours before ironing**
*You can iron almost immediately after using the ink pad*

You will want to use a different piece of cotton fabric or parchment paper to place
on top of the stamped area while ironing.

Make sure your iron is on the highest setting.

Press firmly on the iron and let it sit about 1 minute on each stamped area.
(You will also want to repeat this process on the backside of the fabric)

Once finished, you can hem the blanket for a finished look!

**You want to wait at least 2 weeks before washing the blanket**

Pros and Cons to both Craft Paint and Ink Pad

Craft Paint:
Comes in a ton of colors and can even be mixed to create endless color choices!
Leaves a stiff feeling on fabric

Ink Pad:
Doesn't come in a lot of colors
Has a printed feeling, it looks like it actually came printed like that!

And here is the finished product!
.LOVE.

I love this gauzey one for summer!
So soft and comfy

I'm going to add some super soft minky fabric to the back
of this one for a more cuddly time blanket :)

Good luck!!

Also a baby update!
I had my 21 week ultrasound yesterday and baby boy is already 1lb.1oz!

It kind freaked me out to know that I still have 19 weeks left and hes already a pound! But I seriously can't wait for him to get here!
