Kitchen: To Date

Well our ktichen is just about there.
The main thing left to do is the flooring and molding,
installing a new sink and then a new light fixture
and possibly recessed lighting.

I can't believe what a process this was but
it was so worth it to be able to see all the hard work has
definately paid off!

Our kitchen just makes us so happy now.
And it makes the home more airy and bright!

So let's take a look at what the kitchen looked like
when we purchased the home about 1 month ago.

A close up of the cabinets

And now the after.

Our little mail basket, to keep clutter off the counter

We sanded, primed and painted all the cabinets.
This kept costs down so we didn't have to replace any cabinets.

We tore out the 2 cupaboard cabinet above the sink
and replaced it with open shelving from Ikea.

We added crown molding to all the cabinets
and also added height to the corner cabinet for a
more custom look.

We put up paintable beadboard {wallpaper} by Martha Stewart
[that we purchased at home depot online]
on all the ends of the cabinets and around
the sides of the peninsula counter.

Since the kitchen and fmaily room are connected to form an open floor plan,
we decided to paint the wall in the kitchen to somewhat seperate it.
We used Wheat Bread by Behr, a greige {grey+beige} color.

We could not be happier with the results!

It was a lot of work but so worth it!
